FAQ

What can I use to finish my interior door?

The type of finish suitable for interior doors varies depending on the type of door you select:

  • Moulded doors require decoration using a suitable base coat primer and top coat paint system to the two faces, four edges and cut outs for locks, handles and hinge recesses within 24 hours of fitting. Failure to do so may result in the door warping.
  • White oak timber feature doors can be finished with paint, stain, varnish or lacquer, whilst primed products can be decorated with a good quality paint to suit your tastes and the style of your property.
  • Veneer doors are fully finished other than the edges which are left for any trimming requirements.  These can be finished in a polyurethane varnish or stain to match your door colour.

JELD-WEN doors are not suitable for waxes, polishes, dyes or oils (e.g. Danish Oil) as they do not properly seal the door and can lead to delamination of the veneer.
