What do I need to consider when fitting pairs of doors?

When installing pairs of doors it’s essential that both doors are square and plumb in the frame, ensuring a level fit. If the first door is not level, this will then have an immediate knock on effect on the second door.

If you find that the fit isn’t quite right the doors can be trimmed – up to 4mm trim on the vertical edge of each door and 6mm on the bottom edge. Do not trim the top edge or the inside rebated edge (if fitting rebated pairs), as any adjustments can cause the doors to be uneven once hung, leaving an excessive gap or preventing closure.

When fitting rebated pairs, it’s important to note that because the inside edge of the door is not flat, a standard latch keep will not fit. Therefore, a stepped rebated latch keep is required to fit around the rebate.
