Stairs Buying Guide

Choosing your new staircase

Are you thinking about splashing out on a grand set of stairs or replacing a tired old flight that has seen better days?

Whatever you need, we have plenty of designs to suit all tastes and budgets. To help you identify the right one, we have highlighted the key things to consider when choosing a shiny new staircase.

Style

First impressions count. That's why we work hard to produce staircases that make a lasting impression, long after you've opened the doors to your home.

We have three ranges to suit our customers' varying tastes - Prestige, Contemporary and Traditional - that can be tailor made to your needs and the style of your property.

Our Prestige staircases are built using the finest timbers. They come with a range of spindles, newels and caps in white oak or redwood, to create a real statement. Lovely detailing, such as continuous handrails and oak treads, can also be added to give your home the ultimate luxury finish.

In our Contemporary range we mix modern oak handrails with nickel and glass elements to brighten up a dark Victorian hallway or add character to a funky new build home.

Traditional staircases are available in a variety of wood types and finishes and provide an affordable solution that will complement any character property.

Design

We can manufacture bespoke orders to meet almost any design, size or specification.

Safety

Our staircases don't just look great, they are also built to last.

A JELD-WEN flight of stairs will keep you and your family safe for decades and to prove it, our products are independently assessed by the British Woodworking Federation.

Building Regulations

There are plenty of rules and regulations covering the installation of a new staircase. Before you place your order, we recommend asking a builder what legislation you need to consider. For more information visit our Building Regulations page.
